chocolate-drizzled anise biscotti

$10.00

Our original anise biscotti laced with dark chocolate to satisfy your cravings. Pair with a cup of coffee or your favorite tea…delicioso!

Anise is the traditional flavoring that we Sicilians use when making biscotti or pizzelle. I grew up eating both anise biscotti and pizzelle, yet I know many people may not have experienced this flavor before. It is similar in characteristics to fennel, tarragon and licorice. Even though I don’t like black licorice (which the flavor resembles), I don’t sense that similarity when I eat them. Other anise products on the market have a very overwhelming licorice flavor, which I can’t tolerate. The anise flavor in Baker’s Lane cookies is subtle and delicate.

The idea to start drizzling chocolate onto our biscotti came from a friend who wanted to gift some kind of chocolate-containing biscotti to family during the holidays. These pleased her so much that she returns every year, as her family now comes to expect them! It turned out to be a great idea, as they are a popular item at the farmers markets I attend.

Ingredients: Flour, sugar, butter, eggs, baking powder, anise extract, anise seed.

Chocolate Ingredients: chocolate, sugar, cocoa butter, milkfat, nonfat milk, natural flavor.
